Jennifer King

Jennifer Rae King, a dedicated, loving mother and hardworking employee passed away on August 20, 2022. Jennifer was born on December 16, 1975, to Gerald Lynn and Sandy (Eaton) Archer. Jennifer’s smile lit up a room and set people at ease. In her youth Jennifer was a member of the Community Riders 4-H club taking part in various activities including riding her horse and barrel racing during the 4-H rodeo. Jennifer was a 1994 graduate of Olivet High School.
Jennifer loved spending time in the kitchen especially at Christmas which was her favorite holiday. She is known for her Christmas cookies and baking and decorating cakes. Her favorite cake may have been the wedding cake she baked for her son Jacob and his bride Salena. Highly respected by her coworkers at Consumers Energy, Jennifer worked as an exceptional customer service agent for many years and was a trainer for new employees at Consumers. Family was the central part of her life and she will be missed by each one, even her two cats.
Jennifer leaves behind her parents, Gerald (Sandy) Archer; children, Jacob (Salena) Emery, Jared Emery, and Hannah King. She was preceded in death by her brother, Andrew Archer and nephew, Seth Archer.
The family hosted a celebration of her life on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Jenson officiating. Lois Kennedy

In 2017 Lois Kennedy wrote: I am mindful of the brevity of life, having placed my faith and confidence in Jesus Christ, my Savior and Lord, who redeemed my soul through His death upon Calvary’s Cross. He shed blood for my sins assuring me of eternal life. I ask my children and all my family, my living legacy, to remember that everything they have is a trust from God and they are stewards of what He has given to them.
Lois Elaine (Lutton) Kennedy was born in Flint, Michigan, on July 28, 1930, the daughter of Lee and Agnes (Uber) Lutton and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 12, 2022, in the comfort of her home.
Lois graduated from Flint Central High school in 1949, in 1951 married Arthur Ralph Hanje, and they became the parents of sons:  Charles, Robert, and Marc.  Arthur died in 1980.  Their nearly thirty-year marriage was filled with raising their sons, dedication to their church and its various programs, travel across the United States as well as sites around the Gulf of Mexico, summers boating at Dewart Lake, and an open-door policy of genuine hospitality, with meals and desserts she prepared from her extensive collection of recipes.
It was also during these years that Lois discovered an aptitude for learning anything in which she was interested and adapted quickly to all technology and classes and training that aided her in expressing her artistry and fearless approach to athletic endeavors. She taught herself to play the organ and remained a lifelong music lover.  Although Lois appeared to be quiet and shy, she discovered, with Art’s encouragement, that she was an adventurous extrovert. This trait led her to be a consummate host, always ready with her gift of hospitality that she shared with all who entered her door. Lois enjoyed playing cards, playing practical jokes, and all types of board games. Her dining table was constantly filled with laughter.
Lois’s biggest passion, however, was art and she continued taking lessons until just a few months before her death. Her love of painting began with her mother-in-law and grew into collaborating with various famous artists wherever she lived. She loved community painting and the many friends she made along the way. Lois’s talent for expression extended across all mediums, whether landscapes, animals, or places she had visited.  Her works were featured in various exhibits in Michigan and Florida.
In 1984 Lois married Russel William Kennedy (died 2001).  She welcomed a new set of grandchildren, and like all her grandchildren, she entertained them with overnight and vacation visits teaching them art, games, and taking them for adventures in Florida’s Panhandle.  Lois and Russell divided their time between Noblesville, Indiana, and Panama City Beach, Florida.  She put her mind to designing an ocean front home that would accommodate a houseful of guests at every opportunity. She studied basic architecture and built a home that reflected her life of hospitality.  It was a dream come true for family, friends, and guests. Lois and Russell traveled to Europe, South America, and Alaska.  They also worked together as certified counselors through a Christian counseling center and church in Indianapolis.
Lois was a Christian who appreciated her quiet time each day in prayer with Christ Jesus and writing in her journal. The public side of her Faith included helping to start a church in Noblesville, IN, being actively involved in Women’s Christian Fellowship, and involvement with Billy Graham and Campus Crusade Ministries. In her later years, she was a member of South Church in Lansing. Lois’s faith defined her life and her love of her family. Her life’s fulfillment was in sharing her time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
We, her family, do not feel left behind, we know she is waiting for us to join her, and in each other we will continue to see Lois and have stories to share.  We love her and will cherish the memories.  Her family is her living legacy that because of Jesus Christ we will all share Heaven together. Until we meet again:

Lois was preceded in death by her husbands, Arthur Ralph Hanje (1980) and Russel William Kennedy (2001); son Robert Hanje (2021); son Marc Hanje (2012); parents Lee and Agnes Lutton; sister Patricia Jane Moriarity-Haldin (2014); brother Lynn David Lutton (2015); beloved parents-in-law; Arthur and Alma Hanje; brother-in-law, Alfred Paul Hanje; sister-in-law Joyce Prescott Hanje (2015); and many other aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins spanning many decades on both the Lutton and Hanje sides of the family.

Jane Ellen Fox, a woman who had heart of gold, died on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. Jane, 87, of Charlotte, was born July 9, 1935, the daughter of George and Kathryn (Gallagher) Newman. From a young age growing up with seven siblings, Jane learned the importance of family. This carried throughout her life. On January 28, 1961, Jane married the love of her life, James Albert Fox. She worked for Eaton County doing clerical work with the District Court, where she retired in 1995 after 25 years. Jane also enjoyed trips to the casino, playing Bingo, and most importantly spending time with her family. Throughout her life Jane was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlotte.
Jane is survived by her children, Kathy (Rex) Fox, Bob (Debbie) Fox, and Joe (Carol) Fox; 13 grandchildren, Jimmy, Ashley, Brooke, Spike, Sarah, Matthew, Kelly, Bobby, Molly, Ben, Tiffany, Colleen, and Joey; nine great-grandchildren, Keegan, Colton, Talon, Trevor, Evelynn, Dakkota, Ryan, Audrey, Levi James, and Jaxton; siblings, Margaret Premo, Barb Dunneback, Diane Newman, John Newman, Mary Dewitt, and Jeff Newman. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Fox; son, James Jeffery Fox; daughter-in-law, Lisa Fox; brothers, Mike Newman, and Joe Newman; and her parents.

Eva J. Palmer, age 87, entered peacefully into the arms of her Lord, July 24, 2022, at her home. She was born March 13, 1935 in Beaverton, Michigan to Rev. George & Grace (Tolles) Huber. On January 12, 1957 Eva married Philip Palmer in Mt. Haley Church of God. Eva was a faithful to the Lord as well as a wife, mother, and grandmother.
Mom served many churches over the years as a Pastor’s wife in Colon, MI, Charlotte, MI., Ocala, FL, Cape Coral FL., and Burlington, MI. Mom taught Sunday School, played piano, and then the organ for many years in the church. Mom also served before her marriage with her parents who were pastors in several churches.
Mom worked as a lab tech at the Midland Hospital, clerk at State Farm Insurance in Marshall, MI, billing clerk at Community Hospital in Battle Creek, MI, and receptionist/administrative secretary at Eaton County Care Facility.
She is survived by a daughter Rebecca (Rev. Douglas) Douglas of La Fayette, GA; a son Thomas (Valerie) Palmer of Charlotte, MI; grandchildren: Nicole (Richard) Rivera, Curtis Palmer of Charlotte, MI, Gretchen (Ballard) Wood of Columbia City, IN, Charin (Mike) Hanlon of Wilmington, NC, Nathan (Jessica) Douglas of Ona, WV and Thomas Douglas of Ft. Wayne, IN; great-grandchildren: Audrey, Ethan, and Morgan Rivera, Chasity (Dallas) Puckett, Micah (Becca) Wood, Kaylee and Grace Hanlon, and Luke and Joey Douglas; and four great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Grace Huber; brothers, Gerald, Orville, Rex and Ron Huber; sisters, Merlene Wixom, Alice Krotzer; and her husband of 64 years, Philip B. Palmer.
A memorial service for Rev. Philip B. and Eva J. Palmer will be held August 27, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the South Cochran Church of God, 2470 S. Cochran Rd., Charlotte, MI 48813. Luterio A. Boyer, 60, of Lake Odessa passed at his home on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, after fighting with cancer for several years. Lou was born in Charlotte, Michigan to Jorum and Jeannette Boyer on July 11, 1962. He proudly served the US Army for 12 years. In 1989 he married Christine Knapp and together they raised two children in the Lake Odessa area. Lou was a diesel mechanic until his health forced him to take an early retirement. He deeply loved his family and spending time outdoors, fishing, playing with his dog Duke and tinkering with his cars in his home shop.
Lou will be missed by his wife, Christine; children, Natalie and Elias; mother, Jeannette; siblings, Jorum Jr., Phillip (Debora), Jeannette (Fred) Spitzley, Kenneth, Charles (Ann), Jessica (Justin) Garvie; in-laws Edith (Dieter) Fischer, Klaus (Karin) Knapp; along with many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his father, Jorum; brother-in-law, Karl-Heinz Knapp; and special niece, Elizabeth Boyer.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Donations in Lou’s name would be appreciated to the Veteran’s Affairs.

Merrill “Cookie” Amy Williams, a loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother, died Saturday, August 6, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Cookie, 73, of Bellevue, was born April 13, 1949, in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Melvin and Mildred (Raterink) Barton. She obtained an associate degree from The Lansing Business College. Cookie then began working for the U.S. Geological Survey. On May 6, 1972, Cookie married David Williams. Once they started a family she stayed at home with the children. She later started working for Signature Fundraising and later retired from Peckham Industries in 2012. Through all of her work Cookie was an exceptional shorthand writer. Cookie enjoyed bowling in her younger years, sewing, reading, shopping, watching the birds especially hummingbirds, and most importantly Christmas. She made sure that the holidays were always a special time of the year. Each year she would buy a new Hallmark ornament for family members to add to their collection. Cookie herself started collecting ornaments and encouraged David to do the same. She was also an immaculate gift wrapper. Above all her biggest passion was her family.
Cookie is survived by her husband, David; children, Scott (Ronda Gaedert) Williams, Deanna (Joe) Miller; grandchildren, Madisen Williams, Jersey Gaedert, Simon Miller, and Nathanael Miller; brothers, Mike (Vickie) Barton, and Marc (Tracy) Barton; and dear friend, Gwen DePeel. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Francis Chamberlain, a kind, gentle man, died in the company of his family on August 3, 2022. He was known as Frank, but also answered to Francie. Frank, 84, was born on April 4, 1938, in Portland, MI, the son of George and Odelia (Huhn) Chamberlain. Following high school graduation from St. Patrick in Portland, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. On March 11, 1967, Frank married Janice Jenkins, the couple would spend the next 55 years in a loving relationship and creating lasting memories. He worked as a meat cutter until his retirement in 1992. Frank was a very smart man, he loved books and reading and staying up to date with current events and politics. He also liked planes and trains, Frank enjoyed reading about their history and watching them. With his knowledge he was very good at trivia and everyone wanted him as a partner. Traveling was also important to Frank, he made numerous trips to the UP where he was member of the Whitefish Point Bird Observatory. These trips were also used for rock collecting adventures.
Frank is survived by his wife, Janice; siblings, Patricia (James) Glossi, Thomas Chamberlain, Donald (Kathleen) Chamberlain, Michael (Rita) Chamberlain; brother-in-law, William Jenkins; and numerous extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Evelyn Sias; sisters-in-law, Dianne Chamberlain, Nancy (John) Spurgeon, and Cheryl Jenkins.

George David Campbell, “Dave,” as he was known, was born March 3, 1935, in Battle Creek, Michigan to George E. and Beatrice E. (Struble) Campbell. Dave went to be with our Lord on August 3, 2022. Raised in Olivet, Michigan, he attended Olivet High School and was an Eagle Scout when he was young and then enjoyed football in high school. Racing cars down Main Street in Olivet, Dave drove the local police crazy as a young man. After high school, Dave enlisted in the Navy for one tour of duty.
On June 12, 1954, Dave married the love of his life, Judith Ann Short. They were married 51 years and enjoyed time together and with their eight children and later many grandchildren before Judy passed on July 9, 2005. Dave worked for many years at A & C Carriers and retired from there. A member of the Bellevue Baptist Church in Bellevue, Michigan for many years, Dave enjoyed debating scripture versus beliefs and values with his pastor and anyone else who would listen. Some of his dearest friends were his church family. He was a former member of the Olivet Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons.
Activities Dave enjoyed included gardening with his kids, fishing on the Big Lakes, fishing on the creek by their home, mushroom hunting each spring, camping, as well as ice fishing in the winter and playing cards with family and friends. Back in his early fatherhood days he was affectionately called “Mellow” by his loving children.
Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his parents, George E. and Beatrice E. Campbell; his infant grandson, David Campbell Tuckey; brothers, Norman and Daniel Campbell; sister-in-law, Shirley Campbell; niece, Cammi Campbell; nephew, Rex Baum; and great-nephew, Corey Campbell. He is survived by his children, David “Zig” (Irene) Campbell, Timothy (Maggie) Campbell, George “Joe” Campbell, Sally (Randy) Fritz, Sonia (Jed) Thorndyke, Stephen Campbell, Gregory (Sue) Campbell and Michael Campbell; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald Campbell, Brian (Sharon) Campbell, and Wilma Campbell; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, August 10 in Pray Gardens behind Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with Pastor Don Francis officiating.

JoAnne was born on May 6, 1941, in Woodland, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grant and Ruth (Brock) Blood, her husband of 63 years, Edward Heinig, her sisters Joyce (Southgate) Blood, Bonnie (Pennington) Blood and her brother Daryll Blood. JoAnne passed away August 3, 2022, at the age of 81 in her home surrounded by loved ones.
JoAnne attended Grand Ledge High School where she played basketball. She was a dedicated baptized Christian of Jehovah’s Witnesses since 1957. She enjoyed painting, gardening, traveling and most of all cooking. She was an awesome cook and loved to host many family gatherings. Anyone that met her loved her, as she had many fine qualities, the most prominent of which was kindness. She was a dedicated mother of four children, Deborah/Krystal Heinig-Fraenig of South Lyon, Michigan, Steve (Kim) Heinig of Charlotte, Michigan, Laury Heinig of Lansing, Michigan and Brian (Nicole) Heinig of Eaton Rapids, Michigan. She had ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is survived by three siblings, Grant Michael (Patricia) Blood, Cathy (Halsey) Blood, and Paulette (Wolfington) Blood, and her four children.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2730 Delta River Drive, Lansing, Michigan 48906. Carol L. Marsh was born September 15, 1942, and died on Friday, August 5, 2022. Carol had many jobs during her lifetime, but none more important than her 27 years as a welfare caseworker for the State of Michigan. She retired in 2000 and spent 20 years with husband Gary wintering in Florida before returning to live full time in Charlotte. Carol loved people and enjoyed getting to meet and know them. She loved movies, animals, her garden, flowers, puzzles and playing Bingo. She treasured her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and tried to remember everyone’s birthday with a card.
Carol leaves behind her loving husband Gary Marsh, her brother, Douglas Beam, his companion Don Griffin, her Aunt Leah Berkimer and sister-in-law Martha Beam; four children, Alan (Jan) Groner, Sumter, SC, Joni K. Powell, Potterville, MI, Cara Lea James, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Annjetta (Jesse) Kemp, Fredericksburg, VA. three step children, Lisa (Mike) Kavanagh, Grand Rapids, MI, Tim (Julie) Marsh, Ionia, MI and Jeff (Nicole) Marsh, Portland, MI. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, one niece and four nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her parents Darrold and Doris Beam, brother Lee Beam, and her eldest son, Van Groner.
Cremation has taken place. There was a service to celebrate Carol on Friday, August 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Pray Funeral Home with Laura Cooper officiating. Vistitation was held just prior from 10-11:00 a.m. Please limit children to over seven years of age.
